Collection, Family of the Artist
A member of the Art Society of New South Wales with Tom Roberts, Arthur Streeton and other important Australian artists, Fullwood was a well established artist when soon after the outbreak of WWI he joined the Allied Art Corps. From April 1915 to November 1917 he served as a Sergeant in the Royal Army Medical Corps. In 1918, with the rank of Lieutenant, Fullwood went to France as official artist to the Australian 5th Division and painted scenes for the Australian War Memorial, Canberra.
N.B. Fullwood''s work was included in an exhibition titled "Battle Lines - Canadian and Australian Artists in the Field 1917-1919" held by the Australian War Memorial in conjunction with the Canadian War Museum.
