Bidding works in two ways depending on the type of sale.
For Timed Online Auctions Lots will be available for bidding via the Lawsons website up until the advertised time. The exception to this is where bidding is extended on any lot.
For Live Call Auctions Bidders can participate either in the room or bid live online through our app or website. The auctioneer presents each lot in order, giving live bidders the opportunity to secure their desired items. Once the hammer has fallen, no further bids are accepted on that lot.
Once any sale is finished Successful bidders will be sent an invoice via email. This email contains collection instructions and deadlines, a link to our payment gateway and a PDF attachment of the invoice.
Yes, for Live Call auctions only. Phone bidding is available via the ‘Leave Phone Bid’ link on the respective lot/item page and must be submitted prior to the scheduled Live Call auction start time.
Depending on the sale and sale location viewing options will differ. Please navigate to the ‘Auction Details’ link in the sale header on the catalogue page for specific viewing information.
For Timed Online Auctions bidding may be extended if any lot receives a bid within the last 3 minutes of the scheduled sale close time. When a bid is placed during this period, the lot will extend by an additional 3 minutes from the scheduled close time. If competitive bidding continues past the close time, the lot will be extended by another 3 minute interval. Bidding extensions can continue up to a total of 2 hours beyond the posted close time of the auction.
Sometimes the lot in question has a reserve that was not met. Other times, it does not reach what our auctioneer considers an acceptable bid price to be able to sell the item. All items at Lawsons are sold or not at discretion of the auctioneer.
A buyer’s premium is applicable to all lots purchased at auction through Lawsons. This premium is set at 25% (inclusive of GST) for timed online sales and 27% (inclusive of GST) for live-call auctions. Notable exceptions include motor vehicles, which are subject to a 16.5% buyer’s premium, and number plates attract a buyer’s premium of 8.25%, both inclusive of GST.

Bank Transfer: Please note that bank transfers can take up to 24 hours to be processed and reflected in our account. Details provided on invoice.
In-Person Payments: Our reception staff can process payments via credit card, EFTPOS, or cash.
Business Hours: Our Leichhardt auction rooms are open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. Please note that we are closed on Wednesday’s, weekends and public holidays.
Due to the nature of the auction business, collection instructions may vary for each sale. Important Sale Information, including specific collection terms and locations, will be provided on the catalogue page of each sale. It is essential for buyers to review and understand these terms before placing a bid.
Yes. Our building is located on the corner of Moore St and John St, Leichhardt. The main entry and carpark is located at the rear of the building which can be accessed via the laneway off John St.
Please request an appraisal via our online form. Once submitted your request(s) can be followed via our Valuation Tracker under My Account.
Lawsons accepts consignments every Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (except for public holidays). Please note that we only accept items that have been appraised and approved for consignment. Please request an appraisal via our online form.
Once confirmed, you or your representative may deliver the items along with your email address or appraisal reference. Our team will handle all further steps with care.
Consignments can be followed via our Seller Hub under My Account.

Upon successfully bidding on a lot, each buyer is sent an email containing their invoice. Simply reply to that email letting the relevant department know who is collecting your items on your behalf.

If you are unable to collect your goods personally, Lawsons recommends a number of carriers here. Of course, you can have your purchases collected by your own choice of carrier.
It is a good idea to note the measurements of any lot you are bidding on and ensure you are able to gain access to a vehicle appropriate for transporting that item.
Lawsons is committed to protecting the integrity of the auction process and as such all bids placed are final and cannot be retracted.
Please ensure you are totally satisfied with the information that we have provided in the description of items as well as any other information relevant to an auction including applicable shipping fees, pick up locations and premiums before you place any bids.
