  • Provenance: Tim Storrier AM (born 13 February 1949 in Sydney) is a celebrated Australian artist renowned for his evocative depictions of the Australian landscape. His work often features recurring motifs such as fire and faceless figures, exploring themes of nature, the elements, time, beauty, and destruction.

Storrier's artistic journey began at the National Art School in Sydney, where he studied from 1967 to 1969. At the age of 19, he became the youngest artist to win the prestigious Sulman Prize in 1968, a feat he repeated in 1984. In 2012, he was awarded the Archibald Prize for his 'faceless' self-portrait titled The Histrionic Wayfarer (after Bosch), a work that stirred controversy and discussion in the art community.

Throughout his career, Storrier has held numerous solo exhibitions across Australia and internationally, including in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, New York, and London. His works are part of major collections, notably the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

In recognition of his contributions to art, Storrier was appointed a Trustee of the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 1989, awarded the Order of Australia (AM) in 1994, and received an honorary Doctor of Arts from Charles Sturt University in 2003. He currently resides in Bowral, New South Wales, continuing to create works that resonate with the vastness and mystique of the Australian outback.
