Peter Norman's 1968 Mexico Olympics Australian Team Kitbag made for Melbourne Sports Depot for the Olympic team, held Norman's running shoes, shorts & singlet. The singlet was purchased in February 2016 by the National Museum of Australia. Peter Norman won a silver medal at the Mexico Olympics, finishing the 200m in 20.6 seconds. In one of the most galvanising moments of Olympic history, on the podium the black American athletes Tommie Smith & John Carlos, delivered a black power salute, each with one black glove & Norman supported them by wearing an Olympic Project for Human Rights badge. Regrettably, Norman was left out of the 1972 Olympics.
