  • Provenance: Mantua Nangala, born around 1959 at Tjulyurunya near Marrapinti in Western Australia, lived a nomadic life with her family around Jupiter Well before settling in Papunya in 1964. She later moved to Kintore in 1981 and then to Kiwirrkurra in 1984, the closest Pintupi community to her homeland.

    In 1998, Mantua began painting for Papunya Tula Artists and private dealers, following in the footsteps of her father, Anatjari Tjampitjinpa. She comes from a talented painting family, including her siblings Ray James Tjangala and Yinarupa Nangala, and her half-brother George Yapa Tjangala.
