- Notes: During the First World War Brangwyn emerged as a major propeganda artist. His lithographs for charities and commercial organistations proved extremely popular and resulted in commissions from the government, although the resulting images provoked controversial reaction. Brangwyn did not fall short in depicting the stark reality of war. Even after a dear nephew was killed at the front, Brangwyn decided that his duty to his nation outweighed personal consideration and continued to produce his truly amazing images. His loyalty to the war effort was rewarded by his election to a number of societies.
