Don Bradman Lifemask 1930. The original lifemask of the Don as produced by Thelma Dahle on Bradman''s return from his record-breaking 1930 Ashes tour. Here we have the wilful, resilient and confident 21 year old, in 3-D. In a specially made collapsible box, this also holds an original Dahle three-quarter portrait of Bradman, created from the life-mask, and a contemporary photograph of the subject. Provenance: The Estate of Thelma Dahle. Absolutely unique and most collectable. Bradman had to sit immobile, with only two straws in his nostrils allowing him to breathe, while the plaster mould was made directly from his features. Thelma Dahle lifemasks of Kingsford Smith and Charles Ulm are both in the Powerhouse Museum. She developed her technique when supporting Norman Lindsay creating his garden sculptures at Springwood in concrete.
