Information for Sellers

We receive goods each Monday and Tuesday between 8am - 4.30pm. Creation of a customer account under the MY LAWSONS menu above will expedite the delivery process and further enhance your buying and selling experience at Lawsons.

Delivery of Goods to Lawsons:
Lawsons can recommend removalists and packers to collect and deliver goods from single items to entire house contents. Please see the Shipping Information menu.

Estimates:
Lawsons can provide an estimate for items submitted for sale and offer a free verbal appraisal based on fair market value. For larger consignments we can conduct a walk through valuation on site by appointment or by video link. This service is free but depending on location, travelling expenses may be incurred.

For smaller consignments estimates can be provided from photographs, please submit images and details of size etc to [email protected].

Vendor's Commission:

Commission is charged on the total (hammer price) value of sales. Lawsons also conducts on-site auctions in a similar manner to saleroom auctions attracting a different fee structure for the vendor. All items attract a photography fee on a per lot basis and this depends on the sale inclusion.

Resale Royalty:
In accordance with the Commonwealth Resale Royalty Right for Visual Artists Act, 2009 Australian artists and their beneficiaries are entitled to a royalty in the event that an applicable artwork is commercially resold. The royalty equates to 5% of the hammer price of artworks sold for in excess of $1000 and only applies to artworks acquired after 9 June 2010, when the legislation came into effect. Resale royalties are only applicable to works by Australian artists under copyright (ie. artists who have been deceased for 70 years or more are exempt). The vendor must advise Lawson~Menzies whether the artwork/s were acquired post 9th June 2010.  Lawson~Menzies does not accept responsibility for failure to disclose such information. (For explanation & further details of legislation refer to www.resaleroyalty.org.au).

Miscellaneous Charges:
Additional services provided by Lawsons include customs clearance, gemological testing, framing, restoration and storage. These services are carried out by agents under instruction from Lawsons and are charged to the client. Vendors will be advised prior to any charges being incurred.

Results:

A Settlement statement is prepared along with the proceeds of sale itemising the results which can also be viewed through the My Lawsons menu.

Payment to Vendors:
Payment is made via direct deposit within ten days of the auction. All payments are subject to receipt of monies from buyers. Please provide your bank details along with your signed agency agreement.
